University of Ilorin Prepares for Grand Convocation and Project Unveiling by Visitor, President Bola Tinubu

The University of Ilorin is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for a momentous occasion, hosting its combined 37th and 38th convocation ceremonies. These ceremonies, set to be held from October 21st to 23rd, promise to be a grand affair marked by a series of events, including the unveiling of several completed projects. The highlight of the occasion will be the presence of the university's Visitor, President Bola Tinubu, who will do the honors of revealing these significant milestones.

Mr. Kunle Akogun, the university's Director of Corporate Affairs, recently shared these exciting details in a statement. He underlined that these ceremonies would be an opportunity to celebrate the graduates of the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions, who will be receiving their First degrees, Postgraduate degrees, and Diplomas.

The festivities kick off on Friday with a Special Jumaat Service, followed by an Inter-denominational Church Service on Sunday, underscoring the institution's commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in its celebrations. Additionally, the convocation ceremonies are planned to be an enriching experience for both students and attendees, with a diverse array of events and activities.

One of the unique highlights of the event will be the presentation of a Korean drama titled "Jeong Do-Jeon (The Clash of Power)." This cultural presentation is expected to add a touch of international flair to the proceedings and provide a unique perspective on the arts.

Academic enrichment will also be a central theme, with a distinguished Historian from the University of Texas at Austin, U.S., delivering a lecture on "Modernity, Modernisation, and Values." This lecture promises to be an insightful discussion on contemporary issues and the importance of modernization while preserving core values.

The ceremonies will be spread over three days, with Saturday serving as Convocation Day II for the conferment of degrees and honors upon all the 2021/2022 final-year students of four-year and five-year academic programs. On the grand finale day, October 23, the university will confer degrees upon the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 six-year program graduates, as well as Postgraduate students, marking a culmination of academic achievement.

Mr. Akogun assured attendees that the university authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the events go off without a hitch. The preparations showcase the dedication and commitment of the University of Ilorin in recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of its students and the significant strides it has made in infrastructural development.

The presence of President Bola Tinubu, the institution's Visitor, at the project unveiling further underscores the importance and significance of this event. As the University of Ilorin gears up for this momentous occasion, it not only celebrates academic achievements but also showcases its commitment to enhancing the educational experience for its students and the broader community. The upcoming convocation ceremonies are not just a celebration; they are a testament to the institution's ongoing pursuit of excellence.
